Memory Transformations are digital images made by combining, layering and reshaping photographs, mathematical forms and scientific illustrations. They explore interconnectedness between juxtaposed ideas, images, and objects. All of these starting points have meanings which are clear in one sense, but it is usually not so obvious what they are connected with, where they come from, and what they imply.

We think of our memories as stored, like in a computer, but unlike a computer, time and other thoughts combine to transform our experiences in ways which are sometimes confusing and sometimes enlightening. Thus, after thinking about a difficult problem for a long time we quit, frustrated, only to find the solution appear while doing something we thought was completely unrelated.

The digital compositing process is a metaphor for the mechanisms of memory. Combinations, layering, and interactions between layers reveal intricate relationships between objects, thoughts, and processes which may at first have seemed to have nothing to do with each other.
